Thinking About Trying Performing Arts?

Here Are 8 Signs You’re More Ready Than You Think

You’ve probably thought about it before.
Maybe once while watching a stage play and wondering, “Could I ever do that?”
Or maybe it was while singing in your car louder than you meant to.
Or during one of those “someday” thoughts that always seem to come at red lights or while folding laundry.

Then the inner critic kicks in: Too old. Too late. Not talented enough. I missed my window.
Sound familiar?

If you’ve ever thought about trying acting, singing, or dancing for the stage but talked yourself out of it — this article is for you.

Spoiler: If even one of these signs sounds like you, you’re more ready than you think.

1. You Keep Saying “Maybe Someday”

This is the most common one we hear.

You keep telling yourself that someday you’ll try something creative. Someday you’ll get brave and sign up for that class. Someday you’ll stop making excuses and do the thing that’s been quietly calling to you for years.

Well… here’s the uncomfortable truth:
“Someday” isn’t a date on the calendar.
If you’ve been waiting for it to feel perfect — it never will.
But it does get easier once you take the first step.

2. You’re Tired of Feeling Invisible

You’re not trying to be famous. You’re just tired of shrinking.
Tired of feeling small in meetings, quiet in groups, or like you’ve disappeared behind routines and responsibilities.

Taking up space — with your voice, your presence, your body — feels risky. But it’s the good kind of risk. The kind that gives something back.

Performing arts help you say: Here I am. This is me.
Even if just for 75 minutes on a Saturday morning — that can change everything.

3. You’re Craving Connection

Since the pandemic, connection has been harder to come by — especially the kind that doesn’t involve small talk or awkward mixers.

Our classes are built on shared risk, laughter, teamwork, and play. That kind of environment creates real bonds fast.

Many of our students walk in alone and walk out with a circle of friends who clap when they get it right and laugh with them when they mess up. It’s not forced. It just happens.

4. You’re a Creative Spirit With Nowhere to Put It

If you're a creative person stuck in a non-creative season of life, this one hits hard.

Maybe you used to perform. Maybe you write, draw, daydream, or design. Maybe you just feel things deeply and imagine scenes when you hear music — but you haven’t had an outlet in years.

Performing arts classes give you structure, play, and purpose for that creative energy again.
We’ve had writers, artists, musicians, therapists, yoga instructors, and designers — all walk in saying the same thing:

“I needed somewhere to put this part of me that didn’t have a home.”

5. You Want a Hobby That’s Actually Fun

Adult hobbies can feel like chores. Book clubs with required reading. Fitness classes that feel like punishment. Networking events that feel like speed dating for LinkedIn.

This is different.

In acting, singing, and movement classes, you get to laugh, loosen up, do weird vocal warmups, take risks, mess up, try again, and surprise yourself.
You’ll leave class more energized than when you walked in — which, for a weekend commitment? That’s rare.

6. You’ve Got a Story to Tell (Even If You Don’t Know It Yet)

You’ve lived through things. Good things. Hard things. Beautiful, complicated things.
And whether you realize it or not — that shows up in how you tell a story, how you move, how you connect.

You don’t need to know how to “act.”
You just need to be open to learning how to tell the truth on stage.

And sometimes, through exploring someone else’s character, you unlock a deeper part of your own.

7. You Want to Feel Brave Again

Not brave like jumping out of a plane. Brave like walking into a room full of strangers and saying, “I’m here to try something new.”

Brave like speaking up without shrinking.
Brave like letting yourself be seen without a script for real life.

Performing arts tap into that. You grow in confidence — not because you fake it till you make it — but because you practice being present, being human, and being bold in a safe space.

8. You Thought “This Sounds Like Me” While Reading This List

Still reading?
Still nodding?

That’s your sign.

Most of our students say, “I wish I had done this sooner.”
Very few say, “I wish I hadn’t.”

You don’t need to be good. You don’t need experience. You just need a yes.
We’ll handle the rest.
